The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Mr. Anatolie Gorodenco, had a meeting with the representative of Sardinia province, Mr. Pierpaolo Pisu, regarding the initiation, at a regional level, of a fruitful and perspective collaboration in the agroindustrial field.
Mr. Anatolie Gorodenco reflected, in the beginning of the meeting, the current situation created in agriculture as a result of unfavorable weather conditions, stating that agrarian business depends on climate, and the Republic of Moldova is situated in a risk zone. His Excellency informed about the transformations which took place in agriculture during the transition period, referring to present priorities, the elaboration of a concept of accelerating irrigation surfaces extending, 166 pumping water stations existing, at the moment, in the republic.
Mr. Pierpaolo Pisu specified that the problems the Republic of Moldova is confronting with existed in Sardinia too, soil improvement and irrigation being among the objectives of the last 20 years, the Italian region having, at the moment, the largest artificial lake from Europe. He underlined that the soil fertility from our country is net superior, and products’ quality is recognized, and there is a high interest from the Italian invertors’ part to contribute to modern technologies export and agricultural products import.
The minister Anatolie Gorodenco expressed his belief in a possibility to deepen relationships and a benefic collaboration in implementing some common projects regarding ecological production, zonal irrigation, etc., the Republic of Moldova having already partnership relations with another Italian region, Abruzzo.
